North Park Elementary School is proud to announce North Park | ExtraS, our Before and After-School Programming.  North Park Elementary School offers a variety of programs for all ages of students both before and after school.  Programs vary from child-care, academic support, sports, fine arts, and just plain “fun”.  An enticing activity is certain for every age and every interest.  Costs vary based on the structure of the program.  Unfortunately, pre-school families cannot participate in North Park | ExtraS programming.

TYPES OF PROGRAMS OFFERED:

Before and After-School Care:  Affordable and flexible before- and after-school care is available to all currently enrolled NPES students. Students are supervised by an adult.  Students can choose to study in a quiet setting in the library, participate in open gym or play in a designated space.  Before-school care begins at 7:00 a.m. and after-school care runs from dismissal until 5:45 p.m. and no later than 6:00 pm. The cost is $4.50 per hour per student and any applicable late fees.

One-on-One Tutoring: Parents who are interested in providing extra assistance for their child in a specific subject area may contact an NPES teacher directly (with the exception of that child’s current teacher) to arrange one-on-one tutoring.  The parent and the teacher can arrange a schedule that meets everyone’s needs.  Parents are responsible for paying the teacher $45.00/hour in a timely manner.

Help Sessions: Ms. Barbo, (Pre-K) will be offering daily (mon-fri) Help Sessions in the library to students participating in after-school care.  Ms. Barbo will be providing homework assistance, one-on-one sessions, and small group instruction.  These sessions are included in the cost of after care.

Drop-In Activities:  Various activities are offered on a quarterly basis.  Art, yoga, princess and/or superhero training are just a few of the unique offerings at NPES.   Parents can register on an as needed, open enrollment basis for $6 per morning session and $12 per afternoon session.  Parents need to notify the front office (by form, email shurovitz@npeschool.org, or phone) if a student is staying for a particular day’s activity.  NPES does not plan to cancel any of these activities.    Activities run from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm unless noted. Families will be billed after attending a drop-in activity.  Please do NOT send a check prior to registration.

FUN-tastic Friday Activities:  FUN-tastic Friday activities are offered on selected Fridays throughout the year.  These unique and original activities provide an exciting and “fun” way to end the week.  The first quarter’s activity is attached.  Parents need to notify the front office (by form, email or phone) if a student is staying for a particular day’s activity.  Activities run from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm unless noted, costs vary based on activity, age and materials needed. Families will be billed after attending a drop-in activity.  Please do NOT send a check prior to registration.

Pre-Registered Activities:   Pre-registered activities must have confirmation of enrollment prior to the start date.  These activities include selected vendor offered programs (Sharp as A Tack, Mad Science, Robot City Workshop, and more) as well as all sports teams and selected school sponsored programs (theatre, Science Olympiad, band). Programs that do not fall into quarterly divisions are noted accordingly.  The cost of each pre-registered program varies based on length, type, supervisors and materials.  Activity times are noted and vary based on age.

Outside Vendor Sponsored: North Park Elementary School works with Selective Prep to provide testing support and preparation for 7^th and 8^th graders.  Eighth grade CPS selective testing support is offered in the Fall and seventh grade IOWA testing support is offered in the spring.  Registration is available directly through Selective Prep.  More information can be found at www.SelectivePrep.com.

Adventure Days:  When North Park Elementary School has a day off and parents still have to work, we offer Adventure Days.  Adventure Days provide students with a school sponsored supervised adventure to an area attraction.  Adventure Days are offered during school hours and cost varies based on destination.  Ms. Nelles (4^th) will be supervising the Adventure Days which are scheduled for the following holidays: 

·         Thursday, Se[tember 29^th, Rosh Hashana, Lambs Farm

·         Monday, October 10^th, Columbus Day, Didier Farms

·         Monday, January 16^th, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, TBD

·         Monday, February 20^th, President’s Day, TBD
