After graduating from DePauw University with a BA in General Education, Rhodi went to work for the Allendale Association where he worked with children with severe behavioral and emotional problems. During this time, his interest in education continued to grow which lead him to return to school to get his Masters of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University. Rhodi came to NPES in 2007 and has been the middle school math teacher ever since. In his free time Rhodi enjoys playing/watching sports, music and spending time with his wife Jessie and his two children Calder and Nathaniel.

Middle School Language Arts Teacher
Melissa Payne started teaching Language Arts at NPES in 2008. Before working at NPES, she taught at St. Francis Xavier School in La Grange, IL for two years. She has a Bachelor of Science in English Education from Illinois State University and a Master of Education in Language, Literacy, and Specialized Instruction from DePaul University. She is endorsed to teach English Language Arts at the middle and high school levels and she is a certified Reading Specialist. Outside of school, Melissa loves to cook, try new restaurants, and watch TV shows related to food and travel. There is good chance you will see Melissa out and about in the neighborhood with her husband Andy, her son Floyd, and her Alaskan Klee Kai dog Neko.

Middle School Science Teacher
Pete Tortorici came to North Park in 2000 as Middle School Science Teacher. Prior to NPES he was a 6th grade math and science teacher at Chicago International Charter School. In his early career he worked in accounting, metal procurement, and operations management in the jewelry industry. He graduated from St. Peter's University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance, and holds a Master of Education degree from Loyola University as well as a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Northeastern University. In 2001 under his leadership, NPES began competing in the Illinois Science Olympiad program. The teams have advanced to state competition in the last 12 years, placing twice in the top five. In regional competition, NPES Science Olympians have placed in the top three six times. Pete is an avid baseball fan having both coached and umpired youth baseball. He currently umpires high school baseball, and in his spare time enjoys gardening, fishing, and golf.

Middle School Social Studies Teacher
Mary is a self-described history nut who has been teaching middle school social studies for 6 years. This is her 5th year at NPES. Mary has a History degree from North Park University and earned her Masters of Education in Language, Literacy, and Culture in May of 2015, also from NPU. Mary is also one of the student council faculty leaders. Mary lives in the Irving Park neighborhood and she and her husband spend their weekends walking all over Chicago, finding interesting restaurants along the way.
