Wendy Andrews
Creative Drama Teacher 
Wendy (a member of the NPES community since 1999) has been teaching Creative Drama at NPES since 2002 and she created the Spring Musical program several years earlier in 2000.  Her path back to theater has been circuitous. A graduate of Northwestern University with a BS in Speech Education, Wendy first spent many years as an entrepreneur, running a catering business, then moving on to property management and real estate development. She is a proud parent to three young adults (all graduates of NPES) and some of her favorite activities are travelling with family and friends, running, reading, cooking and home.

Rob Hirsch
K-8 Physical Education Teacher
Rob earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from North Park University in 2010, and worked for four years at St. Hilary Elementary School as the Computer/Technology teacher. Starting in 2014, Rob has been the PE teacher at NPES. Rob also coaches middle school basketball and during the summer he coaches golf via The First Tee of Greater Chicago. Thanks to his New England upbringing, Rob is still an avid Boston sports fan. In his free time Rob enjoys playing basketball, golf, and ultimate frisbee.

Janice Hovey
K-8 Art Teacher 
Co-curricular Lead Teacher
Janice earned her BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and spent over 20 years as a graphic designer, ultimately running her own small design business. She started at North Park as a volunteer in the art room orchestrating the auction projects when both her children were students. She received her teaching certification from Northeastern Illinois University and took over for the previous art teacher in 2007. Since then she has totally revamped the art program and continues to manage the auction projects which have become part of the curriculum. She is the lead teacher for the specials team and and has enjoyed establishing a closer bond with students in her role as a middle school advisor. Her own art work is more craft than fine art and explores repurposing and up-cycling everyday materials, both man made and natural, into jewelry, headpieces and assembláge. She is a native Chicagoan and enjoys snowy winters for cross-country skiing.

Meghan Moran
K-8th Spanish Teacher
Meghan Moran is excited to return to NPES and teach K-8 Spanish!  She is an East Coast native, born and raised in Connecticut.  Meghan received her BA in Economics and Spanish from the University of Virginia and had the unique opportunity to study abroad and live with a Spanish family in Valencia, Spain.  After graduation, she worked in consulting for several years and later decided to pursue her passion for Spanish and teaching and made a career change into the education world.  Meghan received her MEd from Boston College and has taught across the K-12 grade levels. Outside of teaching, Meghan enjoys running, exploring the city of Chicago, country music, scrapbooking and coaching Girls on the Run.

Justin Past
Music Teacher and Band Director
Justin earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Northeastern Illinois University in 2007. Prior to attending NEIU, he worked for 3 years at McHenry County College in Crystal Lake, Illinois near Cary where he grew up and fell in love with music. Mr. Past has taught at St. Mary School in Woodstock and directed band at many Chicago schools including: Catherine Cook, Hawthorne, Audubon, Agassiz, Newberry, Mitchell, Galileo, St. Benedict and St. Helen. Justin enjoys playing saxophone or trombone in bands of his own and can be seen at various Chicago venues throughout the northside. When not on stage, he is usually relaxing at home with his cat named Caesar, out riding a bike or skateboard, or enjoying nature while camping in his teepee.

Helen Rosenberg
Librarian and High School Advisor

Helen Rosenberg is the parent of two NPES alums and has been the school librarian since 2001.  Before coming to NPES, she worked as a children's librarian for both the Chicago Public and Los Angeles Public libraries.  She is known to say, "This is one of my favorite books" before reading to the kids but her true all time favorite children's book is Charlotte's Web.  Helen has a BA in English Literature from Colorado State University and an MLS from Dominican University.
