Meet the Teachers


Laura Vocke (

Ms. Vocke serves as the Preschool Director for NPES.  She has a BA in Communication from Michigan State University, an Early Childhood Certificate from North Park University, and an MA in Reading from Northeastern Illinois University.  She and the staff continue their education in Reggio-Inspired Professional Learning, Responsive Classroom, and other developmentally appropriate practices.  Her career at NPES spans 16 years which includes teaching 3rd grade, kindergarten, and serving as Preschool Director.   



This will be Anne's second year serving as preschool teacher, but her third year at NPES (she joined us in 2013 as a Teaching Associate in first grade).  Anne is a certified Early Childhood teacher, with a Masters of the Arts in Education and endorsements in both Special Education and English as a Second Language.  Prior to joining the NPES team, Anne taught in a local parochial preschool for five years, and has additional teaching experience in both kindergarten and third grade.


nicole smart (

Ms. Nicole Smart has a BA in Early Childhood Education and a BS in Psychology and Human Development from National-Louis University.  She comes with 15+ years experience in Early Childhood (including preschool, Kindergarten, First Grade, and as a paraprofessional in a Special Education Classroom).  She has public school as well as private school experience - even working alongside Ms. Nardulli at North Shore Country Day School.


anna Nardulli (

Mrs. Nardulli is the preschool visual art teacher and the Explorations Director. She earned her BFA degrees in Art Education and Painting and her MA in Art Education from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign. She loves working with preschool students in a variety of media from paint to clay to paper-mache. Her favorite thing about teaching preschool art is seeing the enthusiasm and joy the students show while creating art. In her own time, Anna loves to paint, make jewelry, book bind, read, and travel with her family. 


megean gallagher ( 

Ms. Megean Gallagher is joining the extended day Explorations Program.  Megean has been part of the NPES community for the past 3 years as a trusted Child Care provider.  Because of her professional, caring, dedicated work that we have witnessed through the years - we have invited her to join our program.  She has a BA in Telecommunications and Gender Studies from Indiana University - but a hands-on degree in age appropriate engagement and leadership from trusted NPES families!


Karina Gaarduno (

Karina Gaarduno is a Preschool Associate teacher.
