A small campus with room to learn, explore, and grow

At North Park Elementary School, our campus may be small, but it is bright, welcoming and thoughtfully designed around the experience of our students. Our size creates an intimacy that is hard to replicate on a larger campus – students know their spaces, see familiar faces and feel a genuine sense of belonging throughout the school.

Located in Chicago’s North Center/Ravenswood community near Lincoln Square, NPES brings together three buildings, a dedicated playlot and specialized spaces for learning, creativity, performance and play. Our community includes families from 16 zip codes across Chicago and nearby suburbs.

Spaces Designed for Children

Our campus includes:

• Main School Building – remodeled in 2021, with bright common spaces, Early Childhood classrooms, library, Innovation Lab, art studio with kiln and science lab
• NPES Annex – remodeled in 2025 and home to the Nielsen Family Performing Arts Studio, made possible through the generous support of the Nielsen Family
• Dedicated Gymnasium – providing additional space for physical education, athletics and basketball
• Updated Playlot – a large outdoor space with age-appropriate climbing equipment and areas for older students to play, gather and socialize
• Specialized Learning Spaces – designed to encourage students to create, investigate, collaborate and learn by doing

A Campus Connected to Chicago

Our location is part of what makes NPES special. Students learn in a vibrant Chicago neighborhood and regularly connect their classroom experiences to the city around them.

Our Annex is also home to a new 2026 mural celebrating Chicago’s Indigenous history, created by Indigenous artists and incorporating student contributions. It is a meaningful example of how our campus connects students to the history and culture of the city they call home.

At NPES, we don't need a sprawling campus to provide big opportunities. Our students have dedicated spaces to invent in the Innovation Lab, create in the art studio, investigate in the science lab, perform in the Performing Arts Studio, compete in athletics and simply be kids on the playlot.

Most importantly, our campus feels like a community. Students from Preschool through 8th Grade share the same halls, know one another and grow up surrounded by familiar teachers and friends.
