High School Placement Program

North Park Elementary School is deeply committed to supporting students and families as they prepare for the transition to high school. Our graduates go on to thrive at a wide range of schools, including Chicago Public Schools’ Selective Enrollment, International Baccalaureate, magnet, and neighborhood schools, as well as parochial and independent schools.

Led by Kim Smith, Director of Learning Services and High School Placement, the program provides individualized counseling, test preparation resources, and ongoing communication to guide families through every step of the admissions process. Beginning in middle school, students and parents receive personalized support with applications, testing, school visits, and decision-making.

Each year, NPES hosts a High School Fair with representatives from more than 20 schools, giving families the opportunity to explore a variety of options. Our students are consistently recognized for their strong academic preparation, curiosity, leadership, and character—and they are sought after by top schools across Chicago and beyond.

At NPES, the placement process is not about finding the “best school,” but the school that is the best fit for each student’s talents, interests, and goals.
